I feel as if things happen for a reason. That you're placed in certain situations, certain places for some divine reason. That has been my job at the hospital. I clean, I talk, I listen, most importantly when the time is right, I try to speak the truth. Through this job, I've had some pretty cool conversations about God and Jesus. Tonight was one of them...
What started out as a conversation about the hospital being haunted, turned into a talk about the man upstairs
One woman's comments
"Well, I believe Jesus was a good man, but I'm not sure if he was the son of God"
"I feel the most spiritual when I'm by a tree or a creek, somewhere outdoors, that's how I get filled, that's my church"
Another woman-a Catholic, raised in Guatemala
"Well, my kids and I we pray and we always bless eachother. I feel as if my kids are my angels. I love angels, they're all over my house. I also have all these candles, I feel like when I light a candle I'm lighting part of my spirit, like something comes alive within me."
"Everyone at church though, always so judgemental and looks at what you're wearing. So I go in on the week days early in the morning to pray. I cry and I feel this warmth like something's holding me. But, I don't go to "church""
"I believe in ghosts and have had some experiences" *and continues with experience with grandmother who passed away and others
I feel as if every human being has some sense of their inner spirit. But what is that which lives within us? We are the church, we are a part of the body of Christ. But, can we live on an island and separate ourselves from the whole body-what we call the church. The place where fellow believers join in corporate worship, prayer, and share their lives, confess their sins to one another. We want to be spiritual, we are aware of this light that lives within us. This higher sense of being, a greater meaning of life. But we don't want to be accountable to anyone, we want to live our own lives, create our own faith. That's why so many people don't go to church. We don't want to have to answer to anyone.
These people have it right, we are the church, we are the body of Christ, we can feel God's presense outside of church, everyday. We can have a relationship with the Father, we don't need a building or a priest for that. We don't have to go to church to know God, we don't have to say 5 hail mary's and 8 our father's, we don't have to clean the church every thursday. We CAN'T BUY OUR FAITH! WE CAN'T BUY OUR WAY TO HEAVEN. It was given to us when Jesus sacrificed his life for us as he died on the cross for our sins. So that we may have new life, that we would be dead to sin and alive in Christ. BUT- We CANNOT live on this desolite island of faith, it just doesn't work. And most of the time, when we aren't accountable to someone, we just continue to live in our sin.
I believe the Bible, to be truth, to be God breathed, to be like God's diary. HE said it!
Peter's Confession of Christ Matthew 16:13-18
13When Jesus came to the region of Caesarea Philippi, he asked his disciples, "Who do people say the Son of Man is?"
14They replied, "Some say John the Baptist; others say Elijah; and still others, Jeremiah or one of the prophets."
15"But what about you?" he asked. "Who do you say I am?"
16Simon Peter answered, "You are the Christ, the Son of the living God."
17Jesus replied, "Blessed are you, Simon son of Jonah, for this was not revealed to you by man, but by my Father in heaven. 18And I tell you that you are Peter, and on this rock I will build my church, and the gates of Hades will not overcome it.
-The church was Jesus's idea.
Read this, I agree with the guys response
I will add more to this as far as biblical references and faith being an action, not a feeling, but I am very tired...
